1976 Gibson 'The Ripper' Bass, model LS-9. Serial number 00155676. Original ebony finish. This extremely rare factory fretless model is mostly original, including the original hardshell case. It mounts a later 1980s pickguard and has had the wiring redone to a more conventional 3-way switch. The previous owner also put in a wooden nut for extra mwah-sounds. According to the Gibson shipping ledgers, these fretless models weren't shipped in ebony colour before 1977, so it's probable that this one was indeed shipped off in early 1977, despite the 1976 serial number. A great sounding and very rare Gibson bass! Weighs only 3.6kg.
